Lechang Michelia, also known as southern white orchid, Guangdong Michelia, jinglie brandy and jinglie Michelia. In 1929, the British botanist endi found it in Chaping village, Liangjiang Town, Lechang City, and got its name. Lechang Michelia is a rare plant named after a local name.

Lechang Michelia, Magnoliaceae, is an evergreen tree. It likes warm and humid climate. The suitable temperature for growth is 15-32 ° C, which can resist high temperature of 41 ° C. It can also withstand cold. The trunk is straight and straight, the shade is strong, and the flower fragrance is intoxicating. It can be planted alone or in clusters in the garden, and can also be used as a street tree.

Growth habit:

Lechang Michelia naturally grows in the evergreen broad-leaved forest at an altitude of 500-1500 meters. It likes warm and humid climate, and the suitable temperature for growth is 15-32 ° C. It can resist high temperature of 41 ° C and cold. It likes light, but it likes shade at seedling stage. It likes acidic to slightly alkaline soil with deep, loose, fertile soil and good drainage. It can withstand the environment with high groundwater level and grow poorly in the too dry soil. Generally, it grows well in the middle and lower part of the hillside and both sides of the valley, while it grows poorly in the ridge and upper part of the hillside.

Curing method:

Watering ensures the water demand of the normal growth of trees. At the initial stage of transplantation, not only the root should be watered, but also the trunk and crown should be sprayed with wine to replenish water for the trees at multiple levels. Post planting management depends on the weather conditions. In case of drought, artificial watering shall be conducted to keep moisture, but the soil in the tree hole shall not be saturated for a long time to avoid root rot. In case of rare and precious trees, or trees without root treatment, or trees with light or large pruning, or in case of hot spring and summer monsoon, in order to reduce the evaporation of trees, shade or straw curtain shall be set up around the tree crown to achieve the purpose of shade and humidity increase: under good conditions, high poles shall be set up around the trees to hang mist like micro nozzles, which shall be opened regularly to create a small environment with appropriate air humidity. At the early stage of transplantation, attention should be paid to timely removing inflorescences and decaying leaves to reduce the consumption of water and nutrients of trees. In order to prevent premature aging and yellowing of transplanted trees after Topdressing and fertilization, and prevent them from being invaded by pests and diseases, urea aqueous solution shall be thinly applied 3-4 times every half month after 2 months.
