Chongqing Science and Technology Museum, located at No. 7 wenxingmen street, Jiangbei City, Jiangbei District, Chongqing, laid the foundation on January 7, 2006. The construction started in October 2006 and was completed and opened on September 9, 2009. It is one of the ten major social and cultural infrastructure projects in the city determined by the Chongqing municipal Party committee and the municipal government. It is a public institution directly under the Chongqing Association for science and technology. It is a modern, comprehensive and multi-functional large-scale popular science education activity venue for the public.

Chongqing Science and Technology Museum covers an area of 37 Mu and has a building area of 48300 square meters. It is divided into Zone A and zone B. There are 6 theme exhibition halls in the museum, including life science and technology, disaster prevention science and technology, transportation science and technology, national defense science and technology, aerospace science and technology and basic science, and 2 theme exhibition halls, including children's Science Park and industrial light. The exhibits cover materials, machinery, transportation, military industry, aerospace, microelectronic technology, information and communication, computer application, virtual simulation technology, life science, environmental science, basic science, ancient Chinese science and technology and other disciplines. The number of exhibits is more than 400 (sets).

In September 2010, Chongqing Science and Technology Museum was rated as a national AAAA scenic spot by the National Tourism Administration. In 2017, Chongqing Science and Technology Museum was selected into the list of the first batch of "national primary and secondary school research and practice education bases". In September 2021, it was selected as the "National Youth artificial intelligence activity characteristic unit" in 2021.
